Collaborating institutions

The IMPRS on Gravitational-Wave Astronomy in Hannover is a collaboration between the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute, AEI) in Hannover, the Leibniz Universität Hannover, and the Laser Zentrum Hannover.

Scientific research ranges from laser development, interferometry and quantum optics to data analysis and numerical simulations of gravitational-wave sources. The AEI and the Institute of Gravitational Physics of the Leibniz Universität Hannover develop and operate the gravitational-wave detector GEO600 in the vicinity of Hannover, in cooperation with UK partners in Glasgow and Cardiff, and play a leading role in the development of LISA, the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna for the next ESA L3 mission slot.
