Space-Time Physics in QUEST: Basics, Experiments and Technologies
The course is dedicated to PhD-students, stipendiaries and master-students. The lecture starts with three units covering general aspects of general relativity, gravitomagnetism and colsmology, given by Prof. Dr. Domenico Giulini.
The following three units deal with several aspects of quantum measurement technologies, in particular with high precision quantum sensors like optical clocks and inertial sensors. These units will be given by Prof. Dr. Piet O. Schmidt.
Within the next unit, geodetic methods and projects like GOCE, GRACE and Lunar Laser Ranging will be discussed by Prof. Dr. Jakob Flury, with a special focus on measuring the gravitational field of the earth, deformations etc.
The lecture closes with two units covering optical technologies and laser systems in the framework of gravitational wave detection. These units will be given by Dr. Benno Willke.
The lecture starts on April, 24th 2009 and will take place at main building of Leibniz Universität (Welfengarten 1), Institute of Quantum Optics, Room D326.
