Nonlinear Optics

Contents

  1. Introduction to the basics (linear and nonlinear polarization, wave equation, basic equations of nonlinear optics, microscopic theory of susceptibilities)
  2. Nonlinear effects in anisotropic media (crystal optics, phase-matching, quasi-phase-matching, Second Harmonic Generation, parametric amplification, electro-optic effects)
  3. Acousto-optics
  4. Nonlinear effects in isotropic media (frequency multiplying, nonlinear refractive index, Raman process, solitons)
  5. Special nonlinear optic effects and applications (radiative interactions at high intensities, self-focusing, self-phase modulation, generation of high harmonics)

 

Previous knowledge recommended

Basic knowledge in optics, laser physics, and atom physics.
