Curriculum
IMPRS-GW offers a curriculum with both introductory and advanced lectures in a stimulating research environment, aimed at attracting the best students. In view of the high level aimed for, the lectures are at the graduate level. The curriculum of the IMPRS combines specialized lectures offered regularly at Leibniz Universität Hannover, specialized lectures by AEI scientists and a series of three workshops, the so-called “IMPRS Lecture Weeks”. These are weeks of block lectures held for the IMPRS-GW members at a remote location, in general relativity, data analysis or numerical relativity (alternating), and experimental gravitational wave physics (with changing topics).
At least twice a year, but usually more often, the IMPRS-GW in addition to the lecture week series provides all PhD students with soft-skill training seminars. These seminars cover complementary skills important for a career in academia as well as outside the academic world such as scientific writing, grant writing, presentation training, leadership training, team building, project management, academic career planning, personal coaching, intercultural communication, “science meets market” and others. The transferable skills training of the IMPRS-GW is supported by the particularly well developed programme of the Graduate Academy of the University of Hannover that offers an alternating selection of workshops and complementary skills trainings. The 2012-13 programme is described here.

Seminars
Held at AEI HannoverThere are AEI Colloquium and AEI Seminar. AEI Colloquium is a higher level physics colloquium where a speaker outside of the institute is invited to give a summary talk of of a large research group. It is open to all the AEI members. The colloquium is held on Thursdays from 13:45 - 14: 45 in the AEI Seiminar room (3401 -103). AEI Seminar is a student level seminar where a student from various phase give a talk about their research project. Its purpose is to let everyone at the institute be more familiar with each other's work. The students are encouraged to give two talks per year. The seminar is held on Thursdays from 15:00 - 16: 00 in the AEI Seiminar room (3401 -103).A list of the given and planned talks in the AEI Seminar as well as the AEI Colloquium can now be found at http://www.aei.mpg.de/hannover-de/04-lehrangebot/seminare/index.php
Held at AEI Potsdam
- The Institute regularly hosts seminars on all areas of gravitational physics. The seminars are open to all, and anyone is welcome to attend. The talks are in English. A list of the given and planned talks can be found at http://www.aei.mpg.de/english/contemporaryIssues/seminarsEvents/golm/index.php
